Susan Gallion served on the Albemarle County School Board representing the Rio district from 1994 to 2000. After having been appointed by Supervisor David P. Bowerman, Gallion ran for reelection in 2007 after the county switched to an elected School Board. [1]She announced her resignation in October 2000 because she was relocating to Greenville, South Carolina.

1997 election

Gallion was elected to the School Board as a Republican from the Rio district. On election day, Gallion was 35 years old.[2] She is believed to be the youngest person ever elected to the Albemarle County School Board.[citation needed]
