Steve King is the assistant to City Manager Sam Sanders having been hired in the early fall of 2025. [1] The position was created during Sanders' reshuffling his administration. [2]

Biography
Prior to being hired by Sanders, King most recently served as a Senior Program Manager for the International City / County Management Association (ICMA), of which Charlottesville is a member. He has also worked as an economic development program administrator in Richmond and as a senior policy advisor to a Colorado governor. King is originally from Denver, Colorado.
