  • 1788Daniel Maupin Sr. dies and is later buried alongside his wife beneath an old boxwood tree in the Daniel Maupin Cemetery (located adjacent to the Mount Moriah Cemetery). An early inhabitant of Albemarle County, Maupin owned much of the land that later became White Hall and was the progenitor of the area's famous Maupin family.
  • 1820Isaac Hardin dies and is later buried on his land in Greenwood. Hardin was the first settler to own the land that eventually became Greenwood.
