- 1942 – University of Virginia President John L. Newcomb tells incoming first-year students that their time is to be spent preparing to win the war and warned against fun. “This is certainly no time for business or fun as usual. Every able bodied student should enter one of the enlisted reserves – Army, Navy or Marine Corps. He should plan his course of study in such a way as to best fit him for his particular enlisted reserve…” [1]
- 1954 – Charlottesville City Manager James E. Bowen warns there are only four months of water supply left, and that conditions of water are not good and require heavy treatment to be potable. [2]
- 1956 – Greene County awards an $86,400 contract to Holliday Brothers to build a school for Black elementary pupils [3]
- 2020 – Construction broke ground on Southwood Mobile Home Park redevelopment [4]
