- 1952 – Albemarle County Board of Supervisors go into closed session without giving the press a reason why. [1]
- 1954 – A six-member advisory committee in Albemarle County makes a recommendation on segregation in public schools but meets in closed session and indicated they would not make it public until a September 22 Board of Supervisors meeting. [2]
- 1956 – C. Waller Barrett of New York City announces he will give manuscripts of the American author Stephen Crane to the University of Virginia. [3]
- 2003 – Albemarle County affected by Hurricane Isabel which knocks out power to many homes and businesses. [4]
