The School of Data Science at the University of Virginia was approved by the Board of Visitors in June 2019. The school officially opened on April 26, 2024. [1]
The building is the first to open in the Emmet / Ivy Corridor. The school will be housed within a four-story building that is being designed by Hopkins Architects with assistance from VMDO. [2] [3]

Construction
The Gilbane Building Company constructed the building. Groundbreaking took place in October 2021. Funding comes in part through a $120 million gift from the Quantitative Foundation, the philanthropic foundation of Jaffray Woodriff and Merrill Woodriff. [4]
