Sally Hudson is a labor economist and applied econometrician. As an Assistant Professor of Public Policy at the University of Virginia, she teaches the statistics sequence at the Batten School, including courses in randomized evaluation and causal inference. Hudson also serves as a state legislator in the Virginia House of Delegates (D57th-Charlottesville), she assumed office on January 8, 2020 and her current term ends on January 10, 2024.
Hudson is also seeking the Democratic nomination for the new Senate District 11 in the June 20, 2023 primary. [1]
Ranked-Choice Voting
In 2021, Delegate Sally Hudson launched Ranked Choice Virginia, a nonprofit aimed at educating people about ranked-choice voting. [2]Under a ranked-choice voting system, voters can rank candidates in order of preference, without their other rankings hurting the chances of their first choice. They can also vote for as many candidates as they want. If their favorite candidate doesn’t win a majority of the first-choice votes, their vote then counts toward their second choice. [3]
