Robert M. Burke was a transportation activist in Charlottesville who sought to raise awareness of pedestrian safety, especially as it related to the visually impaired. Burke died on New Year's Day 2012. At the time, he was vice president of the JAUNT Board of Directors. [1]

Biography
Born in New York City, Burke settled in Charlottesville. He worked for the Virginia Industries for the Blind and served as president of the Thomas Jefferson Lions Club. Burke was also a member of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Tranportation Plan Citizen Advisory Committee. [2]
