Raymond J. Nelson is a former Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia. He died in August 2011. [1]

Biography

Nelson received a doctorate from Stanford in 1969 and began teaching English at UVA soon after. He became Dean of the Faculty in 1989 and became Dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in 1995. He stepped down two years later to focus on teaching. He last taught in 2010.
