First section opened in fall 2012

Albemarle County opened up a three-mile section of the trail that connects Darden-Towe Park with the Martha Jefferson Hospital on Pantops. [1] The section includes three footbridges. [2]

History

As it is built, county officials are hoping that the history of Thomas Jefferson's commercial interest in the river can be fully explored. [3]
