- 1938 – Charlottesville City Council adopts an ordinance charging "foreign merchants" a $250 license of fee to display merchandise. Foreign is defined as anyone not a citizen of Charlottesville. This was a request from Fred Quarles, a director of the Retail Merchant's Association. [1]
- 1944 – Joseph H. Brant is named as Director of Fundamental Research at the Institute of Textile Technology [2]
- 1963 – Charlottesville Democratic Committee adopted a requirement that its members sign a loyalty oath to the party. [3]
- 1963 – Six men complete a 24-hour stay in a fallout shelter built in the city court building. [4]
- 1988 – City Council passes resolution authorizing $220,000 in transfer to CRHA for Omni Hotel [5]
