Biography
Michael Strine graduated from the University of Delaware in 1986 and received an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from Johns Hopkins. In 2008 Strine joined Johns Hopkins University as the VP for finance, COO, and treasurer. As such, he was responsible for overseeing a $4 billion budget. Prior to that, he served as chief financial officer for New Castle County, Delaware. He served as executive director of the Delaware Public Policy Institute from 2003 to 2005 and chief of policy and operations for Delaware's department of finance from 1997 to 2003. [1]
In 2011 he replaced Leonard Sandridge, who retired after serving the University for 44 years, as vice president for finance, chief financial officer and treasurer for the University of Virginia.[1] On August 7, 2012, Strine announced his resignation as Executive VP and COO allowing President Teresa Sullivan to do some "necessary internal restructuring."[2]
