Matthew Haas is a former superintendent for Albemarle County Public Schools having served as deputy superintendent under Pam Moran. [1] He resigned effective June 20, 2026 and will collect his salary of $257,165.67 from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. [2] [3]
The Albemarle County School Board appointed Haas as the division's next superintendent, effective July 1, 2018. He succeeded outgoing superintendent Pam Moran.[4]
Haas was principal at Albemarle High School from 2004 to 2009. He served as an executive director and an assistant superintendent in the division’s central office before becoming deputy superintendent in 2015.[5]
In June 2021, the School Board extended his contract to 2025. [6]
