W. McIlwaine Thompson, Jr. is Of Counsel to Woods Rogers, PLC, and practices corporate law representing companies in diverse fields including biotechnology, high-tech, publishing, and oil and gas exploration.

Mr. Thompson is Secretary of Insmed Incorporated and an officer or board member of a number of privately-held companies. He is a member of the Investment Committee of Tall Oaks Capital, L. P., a venture capital partnership based in Charlottesville. He is also a member and former Chairman of the Board of UVA’s Curry School of Education Foundation and a member of the advisory board of the Heart Center at the UVA’s School of Medicine. He has been an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville and Moderator of the Presbytery of the James. He is a director and past Chairman of the Boards of the Charlottesville Committee on Foreign Relations and the Ash Lawn-Highland Opera Festival. Mr. Thompson is a founding member of the Charlottesville Tomorrow Board of Directors.

Mr. Thompson is a graduate of Yale College, B.A., 1969, and UVA’s School of Law, J.D., 1972.[1]
