Long Range Transportation Plan

The Long Range Transportation Plan is a federally-mandated document curated and approved by the Metropolitan Planning Organization that lists all transportation projects desired by Charlottesville and Albemarle County. Projects must be in the plan to be eligible for receiving federal funds.

The plan is divided into two lists. One includes all of the projects on the constrained-funding list, and the other is a vision list. The MPO Policy Board last adopted an updated plan in May 2014, but later amended it to remove the Western Bypass when and if that project is finally terminated.

The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission completed a new update in May 2019. [1] Preparation got underway in late 2017. [2]
