Lisa Utz
Lisa Utz serves as an ESL teacher at Jackson-Via Elementary School (1981 - ).[1] She received the Golden Apple Award in May, 2017.[2]

Mrs. Lisa Glass Utz is a native of Charlottesville. She is a graduate of Charlottesville High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from James Madison University. She has an endorsement in English as a Second Language and has taken additional classes through the University of Virginia and George Mason University.
Mrs. Utz began teaching at Jackson-Via Elementary School in 1981 and has continued her teaching career at Jackson-Via. Twenty-six of her years were spent in a kindergarten classroom and nine years have been in an ESL teaching position.
Mrs. Utz is married to her husband David and they have two adult sons and one daughter-in-law. When not at school, Mrs. Utz enjoys walking, traveling, and staying at home with her family.
Teaching has been a fulfilling career for Mrs. Utz. She has impacted many hundreds of students in her 35 years at Jackson-Via School. She is currently teaching the children of former kindergarten students! In 2016, Mrs. Utz received a thank you note from a student living in Casablanca, Morocco, that she taught in 1987. The student described Mrs. Utz as a “fantastic teacher who has positively influenced many lives.”
Mrs. Utz wants her students to be safe, have fun, and learn!
