L. G. Roberts was named to the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors in late 1934 following the death of John A. O'Neill. [1] He would later serve as chair. [2]

Biography
In 1940, Roberts was elected Chairman of the Democratic Committee for Charlottesville, Albemarle, Greene. and Madison. [3]
Shortly before the United States entered World War II, Roberts was named by Governor James H. Price as a member of the Northern Virginia Regional Defense Council. [2]
