Dr. John Hayes was a veterinarian from Ruckersville who volunteered with the Madison-Greene County Humane Society. He died on May 18, 2020. [1]

Biography
John Hayes was from in Maryland and graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1963. He then spent two years in the U.S. Air Force Veterinary Corps. He began private practice and opened the Squire Veterinary Clinic in Upper Marlboro, Maryland in 1966. He sold that practice in the mid 1980's. He moved to Ruckersville and opened the Ruckersville Veterinary Clinic in [1988]. He retired in 2006. [1]
In 2009, he was recognized for his community efforts by the Daily Progress, who named him as one of their Daily Progress Distinguished Dozen.[2]
