John G. Shelton

John G. Shelton was an active member of the Republican Party and served as an alternate for the Cox delegation that was dismissed from the Luray Convention in 1922. He was a public school teacher and the editor of Charlottesville's Messenger (a Black weekly newspaper) from 1909 to 1928.[1]
