James Breckinridge

James Breckinridge (1763-1833) was a prominent American military officer, politician, and lawyer. He was an early proponent of the University of Virginia and a close friend of Thomas Jefferson. Breckinridge served on the University's Board of Visitors from 1819 until his death in 1833.[1]
