Gerry Mitchell (1953-2011) is a Charlottesville artist who passed away on December 3, 2011. He had AIDS and also was recovering from injuries sustained in a November 5, 2007 incident in which an Albemarle County police cruiser struck his wheel chair. Officer Gregory C. Davis had been texting someone at the time. Mitchell sued the county, which settled out of court. [1]
