Gary Heaton is the senior pastor of First United Methodist Church. He was appointed to the Charlottesville Planning Commission, appointed by the Charlottesville City Council in October 2018. [1]

Biography

Heaton grew up in Fairfax County and was attracted to the outdoors from an early time. [2] He is a graduate of both High Point College and Wesley Theological Seminary. He has been pastor of the Greene Memorial Church in Roanoke and spent 12 years at Front Royal United Methodist Church in Warren County. [3] While in Roanoke, he would hold devotionals along the Roanoke River. [2]

He is also a former member of the Round Hill Planning Commission in Loudoun County. [1]
