The Gardner-Mays Cottage is one of Charlottesville's individually protected properties, meaning any exterior changes or potential demolition would have to be approved by the Board of Architectural Review. The house is located at 1022 Grove Street. [1]
The structure may have been financed by the railroad company, but a definitive source for this information has not been found. It is located within the Fifeville and Tonsler Neighborhoods Historic District. [2]
