GE-Fanuc is a joint venture between General Electric Co. and Japan’s Fanuc LTD. It produces hardware and software for manufacturing companies. GE-Fanuc is Albemarle County's third largest employer with 800-1,000 employees according to TJPED[citation needed].

GE-Fanuc is located in the Community of Piney Mountain, one of Albemarle's designated growth areas on U.S. Route 29 North.

The joint venture will be dissolved by the end of 2009, with little change expected in headcount[1][2][3].
