During 2014, he served as Chairman of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
Friedman will step down at the end of the 2021/2022 academic year.

Friedmen has worked in the community college sector since 1977. Before coming to PVCC he served as executive vice president of Austin Community College in Texas.
He earned a doctorate in educational psychology and a master’s degree in experimental psychology from Purdue University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Muhlenberg College.
