The Dogwood Housing Limited Partnership was an affordable housing organization that received funding support from the city of Charlottesville. [1]

For many years, Eugene Williams was the general manager but ownership transferred to Woodward Properties in 2007. In June 2023, the City of Charlottesville and Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority paid $10 million to purchase the portfolio. [2]

Activities

1991

In April, Williams spoke out against the rezoning proposal to convert much of the city to R-1A zoning. He told City Council that the proposal would perpetuate discrimination, segregate schools, and make neighborhoods off-limits on the basis of race and class. [3]

2007

City Council extended a $850,000 loan to Woodard Properties for the company to purchase the portfolio. This loan would be extended several times including in 2022. [4]

2023

City Council agrees to give $5 million to the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority for one half of the purchase cost of the portfolio. [5] [2]
