Beverly A. Hankins is one of several dozen people painted by Charlottesville artist Frances Brand as part of her "First" series.
Brand depicted Hankins because she was the first female faculty member at University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce and a working mother who commuted to DC. Hankins was also involved with the restoration of Ford Theatre
