Barbara Kelly

Barbara Kelly became the first full-time staff member in the athletic department at the University of Virginia in 1971 around the same time that the school began admitting women. As assistant director of intramurals and physical education, she helped develop first women's varsity intercollegiate teams. She was also the first coach of the women's basketball team. She retired from UVA 38 years later. Kelly died in 2020. [1]
