Benjamin R. Pace (1839-1894) was President of the People's National Bank and ex-mayor of Charlottesville [1] As president of the council, he was elected mayor by the council after R. F. Harris resigned in 1881. Pace was elected mayor in 1882 and served until 1883.
Pvt., Co. H, 45th VA Infantry, CSA.
Born in Fluvanna County, he was son of George Pace (1791-1854) and Margaret "Peggy" Mullins (1790-1854). Benjamin R. Pace died suddenly on December 15, 1894. Death is supposed to have been due to the bursting of a blood vessel. Mr. Pace was 55 years of age. He is buried in Maplewood Cemetery.
