Angie Hicks
Angela “Angi” Hicks served as Nelson County Treasurer from 2011 to 2024.
Prior to serving as treasurer, Angi worked in various roles around Nelson County, including as a summer camp counselor and a role with the Commissioner of Revenue. [1]
Hicks was first elected in 2019 to the treasurer position with 95.98 percent of the vote. According to a press release, Hicks has served as Central District Chair, Chair of the Certification Review Committee, and was the first Nelson County treasurer to earn the designation of Master Governmental Treasurer from the University of Virginia Weldon Cooper Center for Public Education. In 2015, the Treasurer’s office became accredited for the first time in history and continues to hold that honor. [1]
In 2023, Hicks ran for re-election. She was the only certified candidate running, and won another four year term. [2]
Hicks later announced she would step down from the position as of Aug. 1, 2024. A special election will be held for the treasurer position Nov. 5, 2024.[3]
