Albemarle County Fair
The Albemarle County Fair is Albemarle County's annual celebration of local agriculture and crafts. The next event will be held July 25 through July 27 at Highland.
History
An earlier version of the fair was known as the Piedmont Fair. [1]
History
For several years[when?], the fair was held at Bundoran Farm in North Garden. However, the 29th annual fair, in the summer of 2010, was the last to be held at that location. Bundoran Farm's owners notified the fair that they did not wish to renew the lease because they are developing the property.[2]
Over 10,000 people attended the 2010 fair.[3] It was first incorporated in 1913. [4]
The 2011 county fair was cancelled when a suitable location was not found.[5]
The fair returned to a shortened three-day schedule in 2012 at Highland. The fair's directors continued to look for a permanent site.[6] Only 3,300 attended in 2015. [7]
The 2017 fair was held August 3 through August 5, 2017. [8] [9]
The 2018 fair was held July 26 through July 28. [10] [11]
