- July 12 – The hit pop-rock song "In the Year 2525" peaked at number one in the Billboard Hot 100 and held for six weeks. [1] The song hit no. 1 a week before Apollo 11’s moon landing.
Deaths
- November 3 – Cora Ross dies of heart disease at her home on 335 Sixth Street SW and is buried in Lincoln Cemetery. A local house cleaner, Ross had her portrait photograph prominently included within the Holsinger Studio Collection.
