City Council
Charlottesville’s voters elected three new City Councilmen from a field of four; the first all-Democratic Council in four years.
In the 1952 election, Thomas H. Wyllie was the first Republican to seek a Council post in under his party’s banner since reconstruction days; he lost the seat by more than 300 votes.[1]
