- April 1 – 1952 election: Sol. B. Weinberg, R. M. (Jack) Davis, and S. Dexter Forbes were easy victories in the four-way race for three Democratic City Council nominations. George E. Hardy polled last.[1]
- September 17 – Albemarle County Board of Supervisors go into closed session without giving the press a reason why. [2]
- October 10 – Robert Frost (1874 – 1963), the distinguished American poet, was scheduled to speak at the University of Virginia in Cabell Hall on this evening at 8:30 o’clock. [3]
- October 27 – The Charlottesville Businessman's Association was formed to help solve parking and traffic problems in downtown Charlottesville. [4]
Deaths
July 1 – Paul Goodloe McIntire (aged 92). From the Daily Progress the following day, "Mayor Strother F. Hamm said in behalf of the city: ‘In the death of Paul Goodloe McIntire, Charlottesville has lost one of its most beloved citizens and greatest benefactors. By his gifts to the University of Virginia, the public parks, statues and other means of beautification, he has made an outstanding and lasting contribution to his native community.'"[5] [6]
