- October 28 – Amos E. Taylor, director of the U.S. Bureau of Foreign and Domestic Commerce, told the Charlottesville Chamber of Commerce that the war efforts had demonstrated America's ability to produce goods. However, he also said that pent-up demand for consumer spending could lead to inflationary pressures. [1]
