- April 2 – Yan Huiqing is born in Shanghai. A diplomat and politician who successively worked under the Qing dynasty, the Republic of China, and the People's Republic of China (most-notably serving as the acting president of the ROC in 1926), Huiqing studied political science at the University of Virginia and became the first international student to graduate with a bachelor's degree from the university. Yen House, one of the constituent residential buildings of UVA's International Residential College, was renamed after Huiqing in 2017.
- August 1 – Eugene Dickerson (1877-1955) born today in Charlottesville. An African-American, he became a surgeon. [1] [2]
