- January - By the end of the month, Mayor James A. Leitch had resigned and the Board of Alderman chose William T. Early as acting mayor.[1]
- February 28 (fourth Saturday in February) - the corporation of Charlottesville held an election of the Mayor and the four member Board of Aldermen to serve for the ensuing year. The election was held in the Court House of Albemarle County. James A. Leitch received 48 votes and was re-elected Mayor. William T. Early 1st Alderman; George M. McIntire 2nd Alderman; William. H. Foster, 3rd Alderman; T. W. Savage (D) 4th Aldermen.
- October 4 - According the the Jefferson Republic newspaper, T. W. Savage (D) was serving as the acting mayor of Charlottesville.[2]
- November 4 - Valentine W. Southall was elected by the Board of Aldermen as acting mayor of the Corporation of Charlottesville to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of acting mayor W. T. Early.[3]
