- A lawsuit that was instituted in the County Court under the appellation of "Cabell v. Wilkinson" was determined and winded up the affairs of the Albemarle Furnace Company, with Andrew Hart and Samuel Dyer being appointed as commissioners and selling the relevant lands to Nicholas Cabell.
- September 6 – Thomas West, aware of the illness that would kill him just a few months later, wrote his last will and testament.[1]
