- Dr. Thomas Walker offered a 50-acre parcel to build a courthouse for Albemarle County. The first courthouse was completed in 1763 on the location where the Confederate monument once stood.[1]
Deaths
- January 24 – Allen Howard dies in Albemarle County. Howard was an early inhabitant of the county, having served as one of its original magistrates and being the namesake of Howardsville.
