WVTU is a Public Radio-formatted broadcast radio station.[3] The station is licensed to Charlottesville, Virginia, serving communities in Albemarle and Augusta counties.[1] WVTU is owned by Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and operated under their Virginia Tech Foundation licensee.[1]

History

In 2009, the station opened a satellite radio studio, on Water Street, in the basement of developer Bill Atwood's Waterhouse project.[5]
