The Tavern is a restaurant located in the Meadowbrook Shopping Centre on the southeast corner of Emmet Street and Barracks Road that opened in 1954^[1] and scheduled to close December 24 2011^[2].

Closing

The Tavern's lease expires at the end of December 2011, and property owner Clara Belle Wheeler told Tavern owner Shelly Gordon she would only give a short-term extension, resulting in Gordon's decision to close at that time^[1]. Gordon predicted in a 2002 C-Ville Weekly article that the restaurant would only be open for several more years because of changes to the way management was handling relations with Meadowbrook tenants. ^[3]
