The Key West neighborhood is located on the west side of Route 20 approximately one mile north of that road's intersection with U.S. Route 250. The community takes its name because a man named Martin Key (the son of John Key) was granted land there in 1731 by George II, King of England[1]. A Activites in the neighborhood are governed by a homeowners association.
The neighborhood was developed and marketed by Alcova Associates. One slogan was "key to modern living with an historic accent." [2]
Drinking water service is provided by the Albemarle County Service Authority. In 2010, the ACSA plans to install new valves in order to better contain potential water main breaks[3].
