Gordon Wheeler

Gordon Lee Wheeler (1920-2017) was a member of the Albemarle Board of Supervisors in the 1960's.

Biography

Wheeler was born on March 23, 1920. He graduated from Lane High School in 1938 and attended the University of Virginia. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 at the onset of World War II and remained in active duty until 1951. He opened the Keswick Store upon returning to civilian life. He earned his real estate license in the 1960's and opened his own firm.

In 1967 he was elected to the Board of Supervisors to represent the Rivanna Magisterial District and served for two terms. During his tenure, the county formed the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority and helped created the Jefferson Area Board for Aging. [1]
