David Rogers

David Rogers served from 2006 to 2014 as principal of Sutherland Middle School. [1] He retired after a long period of service.

Biography

Rogers began his 43-year career in education as a history teacher in 1969 in the Isle of Wight school division in the eastern part of the state. He moved to the Charlottesville community in 1983 to take an assistant principal position. In 2000, he was named as principal for Murray Elementary School and became principal at Jouett Middle School in 2003, and moved to Sutherland in 2006.

In 2011, Sutherland received the Governor’s Award for Educational Excellence, and was honored the Virginia Board of Education in 2014 with a Distinguished Achievement Award.
