Charlottesville Community Leadership Council

Charlottesville Community Leadership Council is a new community group facilitated by a U.S. Department of Justice agency and Charlottesville officials after the deadly white supremacist rally of August 2017.

The group is made up of 16 community members of different ethnicities and religious groups, as well as the LGTBQ community. The Leadership Council’s mission statement is to strengthen community bonds through outreach and collaboration by:

» supporting and promoting activities and relationships that model inclusive, productive citizenship to advance the wellbeing of all;

» proactively building community unity;

» strengthening the community’s response when threatened by divisive issues or events; and

» modeling respect for the many voices of our community through trust, accountability and active listening. [1].
