The Charlottesville Area Tree Stewards is a group of volunteers dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of trees to the ecosystem. They are also involved in efforts to increase the tree canopy in the region.[1] They offer classes on how to identify area trees.[2] The organization was founded in June 2008.[3] The organization's president for 2011 is Phil Stokes.[4]

They held a training class on February 21, 2011.[5]
