About
The group was founded following the Charlottesville Albemarle Reentry Summit in 2011 and is open to both men and women. The group is noteworthy for its lack of a single leader, preferring instead to rely on a collaborative effort from all members. In addition to acting as a support group for former inmates and their families, the Believers & Achievers is also increasingly active in the community, such as speaking to the City Council to request the creation of a task force in order to address what is considered an inordinate number of African American inmates in prison.[1][2]
