The Virtual Schools Initiative is a move toward developing an online curriculum in both Charlottesville City Schools and Albemarle County Public Schools[1].
Charlottesville High School
CHS purchased 22 online courses from WHRO, a public media platform in Hampton Roads, Virginia that specializes in online education. As of 2013, 5 of those courses are running and the remaining are being vetteed by CHS staff[2].
Albemarle County Public Schools
ACPS high schools currently offer one course, Economics & Personal Finance, and will be offering Health 9 and Health 10 in the Fall of 2013. ACPS also has plans to expand their virtual course offerings by developing classes using Blackboard. ACPS also plans to hire a virtual coordinator[3].
