Regal Entertainment Group is a movie theater chain that operates one cinema in Charlottesville. At the end of 2013, it was the only remaining for-profit provider of first-run cinema. [1]

Downtown Mall 6
The Downtown Mall 6 helped anchor the west end of the Downtown Mall. However it closed in 2014 and will be replaced by the Violet Crown Cinema.

In September 2010, Regal announced plans[2] to build a 14-screen IMAX theater as part of the first phase of the Albemarle Place development. This theater will replace the Seminole Square Cinema 4, which had previously been scheduled for expansion[3]. However, the city never received a site plan for the proposed expansion[4].
