The Key West neighborhood is located on the west side of Route 20 approximately one mile north of that road's intersection with U.S. Route 250. The community takes its name because a man named Martin Key was granted land there in 1731 by George II, King of England[1]. A Activites in the neighborhood are governed by a homeowners association.

Drinking water service is provided by the Albemarle County Service Authority. In 2010, the ACSA plans to install new valves in order to better contain potential water main breaks[2].
